Working process
We have collect the most important things you should know about our working process before we start to work together. Please, read the followings carefully, and if you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask us.
Working process
The following working process is mainly for DTP tasks, but can be a compass for other jobs as well..
1. Price offer
You can request a price offer througn our online form or via email.
2. Ordering and contract
You can order jobs from us by email. When we recieve your mail, we send you our contract, which has to be signed, scannned and send back to us. After this, we can begin to work.
If you have your own standard contract with special conditions, it is possible to use that, but in this case we need some days to read and interpretate that.
3. Design of publication
The first step of job is to plan the design of the publication. We normally make two significantly different designs (in special cases can be more). You should choose one of them, and ask for modifications. This step is really important: after finishing the base layout, the design will be fixed, and it is not possible to make changes in later phases (exactly, it is possible just for extra charges...).
4. Typesetting
We apply the base layout on to the whole publication, and send the result to you for a view.
5. Proof-reading
Proof-reading is possible after typesetting in two different ways.
(1) When we send you the typesetted files, your own proof-reader corrects it. Corrections are able to send us back in a PDF-file with corrections, or listed in a Word or Excel file.
(2) If you do not have an own proof-reader, we can manage proof-reading with a professional. This option is available only for normal English, German or Spanish language publication, but not available in other languages or in case of special professional (e.g. medical, scientific etc.) texts.
6. Pre-press tasks
After typesetting and proof-reading, when the result is perfect for you, we make the final output files, depends on your specifications. When the job is done and you fulfill payment, we send you the files, and you have to send us an email in which you accept them officially.
Raw materials
Possible ways to send the texts, photos and other stuffs to us:
- on CD or DVD (postal send),
- upload to our FTP-server (ask for login details),
- via e-mail: info@elektropress.hu.
Texts
You should give us all texts in some kind of digital formtat.
We possibly need the files in the following formats: Windows 98/2000/XP system .doc, .odt, .rtf or .txt. Of yours it is possible to give us the texts in different format as well (like OSX files), but we do not prefer them.
All pictures embedded into text documents should be provided separately as well.
Please do not pre-format the documents with a word-processor software more than it is absolutely essential! This makes our job harder...
Photos
We prefer to get the photos in digital format, but we can manage digitalization.
Recommended parameters: 300 dpi resolution, CMYK color system, TIFF (with LZW compress) or PSD format.
Preferred vector-graphic formats: AI, EPS, PDF, CDR.
Fonts
If you do not want to use a special font type, we will choose fonts for the publication. If you would us to use one unique font, please attach the copyright-clear font file to the texts.
Recommended format: .otf.
New payment regulations
Because of our latest negative experiences, we have to use some new payment regulations, mainly for new customers.
- We cannot start any kind of work without signed contract!
- If the final price of the ordered job is higher than 600 euros, we need a 10% pre-payment.
- If the customer is from the European Union, 50% of the final price has to be paid when the job is ready and before we provide the press-ready stuffs. Customers outside the European Union have to pay the whole price in this phase!
- From customers from the European Union the rest of the amount has to be arrived within two weeks.
If the first job is done without any problem with the payment(s), next jobs can have more flexible regulations.
